"Decoration is really about creating a quality of life and a beauty in that life that nourishes the soul, that makes life beautiful. That's what this is about, not just what's in and what's out."

Megan Houston aims to create livable interiors that are relaxed yet polished.  From collaborating with the architect and builder in the early stages of a project to the finishing touches made after installation, Megan offers a comprehensive design solution that fits the needs and lifestyle of each client.  "It is important to elevate our everyday spaces so that they are both beautiful and functional," she explains. "My goal is to create an approachable, comfortable space that is also tailored and well edited. When form and function come together, our quality of life is impacted in a powerful way."

Whether designing a main home or secondary residence, Megan enjoys working with clients to produce a design plan that incorporates various elements, including favorite family heirlooms and antiques. "Perusing a client's family heirlooms and incorporating those into the plan makes every interior unique," she says. "I believe mixing new and old is important. It's the mix that adds character and depth to a space."

Megan has always had a passion for design. In fact, she began honing her appreciation for design as a young child in Atlanta. "I could usually be found constructing 'houses' out of any materials I could get my hands on. I was also heavily influenced by my mother," Megan says. "She exposed me at an early age to things like porcelain and fine antiques and even let me be involved in the process of decorating our home."

Megan received a degree from Auburn University in interior design. She then spent eight years managing projects for Tammy Connor Interior Design in locations such as New York, Chicago, Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. In 2013, she established Megan Houston Interior Design primarily serving clients in the Southeast.

Megan lives in Tuscaloosa Alabama with her husband, Colton; daughter, Caroline; and Great Dane, Gracie.
